That post by Chiara appeared "like a bean", as they say: precisely in a period in which my idiosyncrasy towards technology has almost reached its maximum levels. Social media technology I will briefly, as far as possible, review some social media, at least the main ones. I won't talk about Medium (I'm a member, but I haven't published anything on it), Tumblr (account deleted), Pinterest (subscribed, but I don't use it anymore), About.me (ditto), Goodreads (subscribed, I use it, even if little ), Flickr, DeviantArt (subscribed, but rarely use it), Periscope, Quag, Snapchat and several others. If you listen to him, in the end you will find yourself living only a virtual life.
Death on the other hand, know this, is real. To the wise... Facebook As many will know, I have not been on Facebook since 2013. I lasted on that social network for about 5 years and it never served me any purpose, except to find controversy when I published something that the right-thinking people on duty didn't like. I also had a series of fan pages, relating to my various sites and blogs, but they automatically published the contents, so those were of no use either. But it would have been unthinkable to Special Data create an editorial calendar for each one to have good interaction with fans. When I deleted my profile, I no longer had access to those pages, which will now be prey to spammers. I only feel profound annoyance towards Facebook. I also removed the share button from the blog (it generated too many cookies): if someone wants to share one of my posts on FB, they can do it by hand or they can not share it at all.
No offense, but it leaves me indifferent. Is Facebook really useful to the writer? I remember when, over 5 years ago, I published the post " Facebook for writers ": since then some time has passed and I have changed my mind. But several rules on FB have also changed, so that post will perhaps no longer make sense. Many open a fan page for their blog or, even worse, for their book. Before doing so, read my article on why not to open a Facebook page for your book . There are those who say that Facebook can be a nice virtual place, you just need to select your contacts carefully. But that's what I had done: for the most part I had people I actually knew (friends, colleagues, relatives, various acquaintances) and other virtual acquaintances. If I were to return to Facebook today, who do you think I should add to my friends? What I would share will not please everyone, in fact it will spark controversy.
